'Welwyn Garden City, A Greatly Improved Train Service to King's Cross'. Poster promoting Welwyn Garden City in Hertfordshire as a commuter town, showing a clock design superimposed onto stylised locomotives. The text includes rental and purchase prices of homes (up to £2, 000 for a house). The town was founded by social reformer and pioneer of town planning, Ebenezer Howerd (1850-1928) in 1920 with the aim of easing overpopulation in London. Artwork by C W Bacon. Printed by the Dangerfield Printing Co Ltd, London. Dimensions: 1016mm x 635mm.

Poster produced for the London Midland & Scottish Railway (LMS), promoting rail travel to the Lake District, showing a view of Lake Windermere, where small yachts are seen sailing. Text beneath the image describes the area and advertises services operated by LMS steamers on the lake, travelling from Lake Side to Bowness, and to Waterhead Pier, Ambleside. Artwork by Norman Wilkinson (1878- 1971). Printed by McCorquodale & Co Ltd, Glasgow and London.

'Plymouth, Devon', GWR/SR poster, 1938.

Poster produced for Great Western Railway (GWR) and Southern Railway (SR) to promote rail travel to Plymouth, Devon, which is described as a 'Delightful Centre for Holidays'. The poster was issued jointly by GWR, SR and the local council. The two companies each paid 25% of the cost, and the council the remainder. Artwork by Claude Buckle, who originally trained as an architect but turned to fine art in 1928. He painted in both oil and watercolour and was a prolific poster artis for the Great Western Railway (GWR) and British Railways (BR). Much of his original poster artwork is held at the National Railway Museum.
